What is Real time microscopic blood viewing?

Live Blood Viewing, sometimes referred to as Live Blood Analysis, or sometimes Dark Field Microscopy Biological Terrain Assessment, uses a fresh drop of blood from the client's finger, that has not been killed by staining. It is then viewed under a special, very powerful microscope using a dark field condenser and connected to a camera. This enables the blood sample to be illuminated, making the various components phosphorescent behind a dark background.

This makes it possible to see very small particles, smaller than a cell that would not normally be visible under a normal light microscope. All the living components of the blood are seen clearly, and can be viewed by the client and educator using a video camera a with a large monitor. What  most people like about this is they can see in real time their blood moving on the screen, and in some cases the poor or good condition of the blood.  It excites clients, as they see visually the changes over time during their lifestyle and environmental changes.

Video Microscopy of Live and Dried Blood Analysis is a unique technique used to monitor individual effectiveness of therapies. The two applications are modeled through three viewing techniques: Phase Contrast and Dark Field (Live Blood), and Bright Field (Dried Layered Blood), also known as the Oxidative Stress Test.


These tests are different from conventional blood tests ordered by physicians because they are live samples. What looks for microbial activity, condition of the cells, and anomalies that are not typically ordered in blood testing using the traditional method. The dried sample suggests the areas of the body that may be congested, or holding toxins, that are impairing proper function.

We find the benefit of this far beyond just science. To actually see your own blood moving and changing, and then to compare that blood test to another done seven days later, after you have made changes or have done therapies, is so motivating!

How Is It Different from Traditional Blood Testing?


It's quite simple. With painless prick of your finger, I will place a drop of blood on a microscope slide, and then the journey begins.

In order to best understand the difference and the benefits of this particular test, it is necessary to consider the Complete Blood Count (CBC) that is conventionally ordered.

The CBC is a test that involves inserting a needle into the patient's arm and extracting a syringe full of blood, which can be a very painful ordeal for some people. This blood sample is then sent to a lab to be examined by a hematologist, and that can take up to two weeks just to receive the results.

However, the major problem with this test is that half an hour after the blood cells are extracted from the human body, they die - so the hematologist is merely counting dead blood cells. The blood is also changed through the addition of stains and dyes in order to facilitate analysis. The results take the form of a quantitative analysis of the blood, that is to say, how many dead red blood cells, how many dead white blood cells, and what number is the cholesterol level, etc., and usually come with a set of ranges, and then analyzed by the physician.

CBC blood tests have an important role to play in your care; but when used in tandem with Live Blood Analysis, then we more fully understand what is going on your body.  Remember, we work hand-in-hand with your physician and other healthcare professionals if you have one to  optimize your health and wellbeing.

Live blood viewing differs immensely from the CBC analysis, because it only involves a tiny pin prick on the fingertip, and so it's not painful, did i say it didn't hurt? The blood is viewed live under a microscope, giving you the ability to see your blood on a video screen. The results are instant; there is no waiting around, and you get to participate and understand what is happening inside your own body.

Live blood viewing is a qualitative analysis of the blood, and because the blood examined is still alive, it actually gives a more accurate picture of how the blood is behaving. For example, a CBC test cannot tell whether or not the white blood cells - which represent the immune system - are functioning correctly, which is important information. Live blood analysis gives you the opportunity to see your immune system activity.

Your participation is crucial, because it educates you as to how you can play a role in healing your own body, and at the same time, gives you back the control you lose by being dependent only on drugs or the word of another person. It gives you back your choice.

But, like all newly used old technology, this system of fully evaluating live blood is controversial, to say the least!  However, like all things, in the hands of a well-educated practitioner, it is a wonderful and inexpensive tool for exploring what is going on inside of you.

In Dried Layered Blood Analysis (Bright Field), one examines the result of the coagulation cascade. This is seen through cellular oxidization and degeneration, which is characterized through the fallout of fibrin toxic masses, gathered from one droplet of blood and collected in layers on the slide.

This application of viewing dried suspended blood samples offers the practitioner and client valuable clues to potential degenerative patterns. Through the oxidation of the blood cells and toxins present in the blood, we are able to see characteristic patterning.


What Is It We See?


 Healthy red blood cells should show cells which are uniform in shape, size and color, and when perfectly balanced, they are loose and free-flowing in the plasma. They should reside freely in their own space, not overlapping or sticking together, but gently repelling each other because of their negative charge. They are mainly round (not oval, oblong, jagged or varying in size) and the background (the plasma) should be clear of floating matter.

Healthy white blood cells are approximately twice as large as the red blood cells, and there is approximately one white blood cell for every 700-900 red blood cells. They may occur in any shape, but they do have a crisp, clean border and extensive movement.

Unhealthy blood cells look broken, squashed together, or layered on top of one another, and they may be oval or oblong in shape, jagged, or even varying in size; and the plasma may show evidence of floating matter.

Viewing a fresh, natural blood sample under the technology of a dark field microscope, will reveal conditions of your blood not normally even considered during the diagnosis of a normal CBC blood test performed in a doctor's office or lab. Unlike the techniques of electron microscopy, no fixative or stain is used. With stains and fixatives, the picture reveals a moment in time, rather than a continuum. The advantage over standard CBC blood tests, which detect chemical changes in the blood, is the ability to detect disorders sooner, when the problem is in its' infancy stage.


So, the live blood viewing is a qualitative test that may reveal certain phenomena non-observable by a conventional blood test, such as:

  • Relative acidity levels in body fluids
  • Relative activity of the immune system
  • Condition of the blood cells and changes in form and function
  • Presence of parasites, bacteria, yeast, fungi and mold
  • Blood sugar and hormonal imbalances
  • Malabsorption of fats, proteins and other nutrients
  • Crystalline forms of morbid matter, acids, cholesterol and mycotoxins; and Presence of heavy metals


As we know, red blood cells transport oxygen to the tissues of the body. Without oxygen, we are devitalized, and the tissues go into a morbid state in which they can survive on fermentation rather than oxygenation. This is what is referred to as anaerobic, and it is believed, by such persons as the Nobel Laureate Professor Otto Warburg, that foreign proteins thrives in such oxygen deficient conditions. This condition also favors the growth of unhealthy organisms that can survive in a milieu that is less oxygen rich.  Fungi, bacteria, and viruses require less oxygen than healthy tissue.  If the real problem is infection, it is important to address the infection so that the red blood cells can "get back to their primary task, " which of course, is to deliver oxygen to the tissues.

The quality of the blood is vital to a healthy, disease-free existence, and this is dependent on many factors. Healthy blood pH is 7.365, and the body will do anything to maintain this level, in the same way that it maintains the correct body temperature. When we eat unhealthy or acidic foods the body has to work much harder to bring the pH level back to its preferred alkaline balance of 7.365, thus drawing energy from our bodies which makes us feel sick and tired.

The best way is to partner with me! (Unless, of course, you prefer to invest roughly $10,000+, plus hundreds of hours of research, training, travel, etc. into your own place business.) I recommend setting aside one to 3 days per month (or once per quarter) as a Live Blood Viewing day at your office. I will then travel to your office and spend 30 to 45 minutes with the appointments you set up. We encourage you to be present and to follow-up with your clients one-on-one afterward. If that's not possible they will receive a sheet representing the outcome of the viewing, which in turn you can use to create or validate a protocol. I do not need to become otherwise involved at all in the care of your clients or patients Unless you request it. My relationship is with you, But I care about your patient/client.

About Silent Clots and Disease Reprieve


As blood cannot coagulate where acids settle, white puddles or discoloration appear; the size and shape of which represent the severity of cellular disorganization.

James Privitera, MD, wrote the book, Silent Clots - Life's Biggest Killers. He would like to see live blood microscopy in every emergency room to evaluate all stroke and cardiovascular patients, as well as others with acute medical conditions, to determine the presence of clotting. Clotting can clearly be seen in live blood under the microscope through platelet and red blood cell aggregation. It is a clear sign that zeta potential has fallen and life is threatened.

Studies that Dr. Privitera has conducted are quite telling. Out of 45 patients studied with circulatory complaints, all had recognizable clots larger than the size of two red blood cells. Thirty-one out of the 45 also tested with abnormal cholesterol HDL levels. In a study of 28 patients with angina, 27 of those, or 96%, showed significant platelet clotting.

In 80% of the heart attacks, the individual does not experience prior chest pain. If live blood microscopy were performed as part of a routine check-up, it seems likely this potential for heart attack may be picked up early. Dr. Privitera would like to know why this method is not widely used, and the fact that it isn't he finds utterly amazing.


If you wish to learn more about this subject, there is another good book, written by Dr. T.C. McDaniel, DO, with respect to cardiovascular disease, zeta potential, and anionic surfactants, which you may find very interesting. His book, Disease Reprieve - Living Into the Golden Years, illustrates the knowledge he uncovered and how he put it into practice. Dr. McDaniel operated a thriving cardiovascular-renal practice. He showed people how to eliminate cardiovascular problems in their lives, how to eliminate kidney stones in about 5 hours without any surgical intervention whatsoever, and how to never have them return. Dr. McDaniel was an advocate of Live Blood Microscopy.


It is also interesting to note that in the 1930s, the head of surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. H.L. Bowlen, MD, introduced the dry blood test to America; he had learned the dry test from President Dwight D. Eisenhower'sphysicians, Drs. Heitlan and LaGarde. In the 1970s, one of Heitlan-LaGarde's students, Dr. robert Bradford of the American Biologics Hospital in Mexico, began teaching other practitioners how to perform this test. So, you see, there is now over 70 years of dry blood testing data by hundreds of healthcare practitioners worldwide.
